Backpack Program

Backpack Program

More than 21 million children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?

That’s where BHOB comes in…

BHOB offers a weekend backpack program through our partnership with Metzger Elementary. We are supporting families with a supply of healthy canned and dry goods to help them get through the weekend. Kids go home every Friday with a backpack full of food.

Your donations make it possible for us to support neighboring families. Please consider donating  the following items to support our Backpack program:

  • Oatmeal (individual packets are best)
  • Small boxes of cereal
  • Boxes of raisins
  • Cans of soups
  • Boxes of macaroni and cheese
  • Tuna fish
  • Small plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly
