Growing Together
Our onsite community garden replicates a farm-to-table model and provides pantry guests with access to fresh produce. Depending on the season, it’s not uncommon for pantry guests to leave with vine-ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, juicy strawberries, among other fruits and veggies.

“I never expected to walk into a food pantry and see veggies just pulled from the garden in the back of the building. I love to cook and having access to fresh produce really helps to normalize my current situation.”
Nathan (pantry guest)
Our garden includes trellises, food pantry and pollinator flower beds, raspberry and blueberry rows, and an herb section. Pantry guests and other visitors are welcome to relax on the bench while reading a book from one of our three Little Free Libraries.
Dig In — Rent a Garden Bed!
We reserve 24 4×8 feet raised garden beds for the community to rent for $40 for the season. This fee covers the use of tools, wheelbarrows, and some seeds and starts.
Our garden is a pesticide-free zone, please no synthetic chemicals (herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers). Organic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are permissible.
The season opens May 11. Download the 2024 garden application and waiver.
Garden Events
Keep an eye on our website for community events – in the past, we’ve held potlucks, live music, weeding parties, arts and crafts, and poetry readings in the garden. Contact us to host your garden event at Bethlehem House of Bread.
Little Free Library
We have three Little Free Libraries onsite to build community, inspire readership, and expand access to books. We encourage everyone to browse our little libraries and to take a book, leave a book and then return and do it all over again.
