Help Us Raise $10,000!
We live and breathe by numbers at Bethlehem House of Bread. We need to know how many pantry guests shop with us so we have enough food for everyone. We also track numbers to order the right number of things like beans, pasta, milk, and so forth.
Unfortunately, the government is cutting federal nutrition programs which will significantly reduce the amount of food we get from Oregon Food Bank. The result is we’ll now have to purchase more food ourselves to keep up with demand.
But you can help! During April, we’re hosting a special fundraiser to raise $10,000 to purchase priority food and for general operations. Now, it’s your turn to let numbers meaningful to you support your neighbors in need.
How It Works
We’ll have a set of envelopes at BHOB and TUMC, or you can donate online. This fundraiser lets you to donate a little or a lot, making it affordable for everyone. No donation is too small; that’s what makes it so great!
- It starts with 144 empty envelopes numbered from 1 to 144. Pick an envelope and put the corresponding dollar amount into it. For example, if you want to donate $47 then choose envelope #47. You can also donate the envelope dollar amount online.
- Each envelope can only be “filled” once (unless you’re donating online), so hurry to get the envelope you want. You can combine envelopes to equal the amount you want to donate. If your favorite number is 135 but envelope #135 is already filled, then combine available envelopes to equal 135.
- Choose numbers meaningful to you. Think about birthdays, anniversaries, ages (of your kids, spouse, friends), or other numbers significant to you. Get the kids involved by having them pick numbers (for younger kids, turn it into a math challenge).
- When all 144 envelopes are “filled,” we’ll have raised $10,000 to benefit your neighbors who need food. Keep an eye on the fundraising thermometer to track our progress.
Three Ways to Donate
You can put cash or checks into envelopes (or donate online).
We’ll have blank envelopes for those who want to put more than $144 into an envelope.
